The KIA Challenge that encourages people to steal Hyundai and KIA cars has prompted groups to push to remove the tutorials on social networks.
As part of the effort, the National Insurance Crime Office, the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud, and the International Association of Special Investigation Units sent a statement to the board of Youtube Susan Wokciki asking to remove the videos that provide instructions on how to steal the aforementioned cars.
According to the National Insurance Crime Office, since the videos appeared on the networks, thefts have multiplied. For example, the Cook County Sheriff’s Department reported a 936% increase in thefts from vehicles of the aforementioned brands.

A situation that extends throughout the United States with figures of similar increases in states such as Los Angeles, St Louis and, above all, Milwaukee. The latter is the epicenter of these crimes.
«Everyday consumers are falling prey to criminals using social media platforms to learn their new illegal tricks and techniques.“explains the executive director of the National Insurance Crime Office, David Glawe.
“Insurance fraud is the crime we all pay for. Posting videos like these hurts American consumers by increasing car thefts and increasing premiums. It’s time practices like these stopped.” said Matthew Smith, executive director of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud.
