Instagrammer’s account stancypantsdirected by creator named Luke, this weekend posted photos of a modified Mazda RX-8 which seemed to have been destroyed by a fire, although it seems the reason for this was that it would have exploded. And to the surprise, in the post he wrote that it was done on purpose.
“I understand that many people hate me, my car, my business, etc. [sic]. But this is a line that should not be crossed, ”he wrote. In the same way, he expressed that “endangering lives by blowing up a vehicle on the road next to people’s houses is not right in any way, shape or form.”

The Mazda had gained some notoriety online after a video of the car “in position” trying to get on a trailer. The car has been modified to get as low to the ground as possible and have the most extreme wheel lean possible, while still being able to drift.
As a result, the RX-8 had trouble with normal road aspects, never mind trying to get on a car trailer, using standard ramps. In the video, the car was seen to essentially launch itself onto the ramp, damaging itself in the process. This led to comments about the vehicle and the “posturing” mod styling, a form of extreme cosmetic modification and one that often makes cars less practical.
And in his Instagram post, Luke mentions that he was aware of this animosity. In fact, the bio for the Stancypants Instagram account reads, “I build cars to hurt your feelings.” However, as the post wrote, there is an important distinction between disagreeing with someone’s aesthetic choices and attacking a vehicle in public, which is totally unacceptable.

It is not entirely clear what happened to the vehicle, although Carscoops has contacted the owner for more information. However, according to the photos, it appears that the fire engulfed the front of the vehicle. While that’s where the engine is, a frequent source of fires in modified vehicles, damage to the lower portion of the passenger-side windshield could indicate an external source of fire. We will have to wait for more details to unmask the mystery.
