BMW Expands Its Subscription Feature Offering in the US

bmw is expanding the number of subscription featuresn that it offers in the US Thus, the brand has revealed five characteristics of the vehicle that are now available through its subscription service: remote engine start, driving recorder, traffic camera, driving assistance Plus with Stop & Go and professional parking assistant.

BMW adds more US subscription features

Most of these features are available through a 1-month, 1-year, or 3-year subscription, or can be purchased outright for a one-time fee. Motorauthority contacted BMW USA and discovered that the remote engine start it costs $10 for 1 month, $105 for 1 year, $250 for 3 years, or can be purchased for $330 over the life of the vehicle.


As for the rest of the functions:

  • Driver Recorderis available for $39 for 1 year, $99 for 3 years, and $149 for a one-time payment.
  • Driving Assistant Plus with Stop&Go it is added for US$20 for 1 month, US$210 for 1 year, US$580 for 3 years and US$950 with a single payment.
  • Parking Assistant Professionalis available for $5 for 1 month, $50 for 1 year, $130 for 3 years, or a one-time fee of $220.

Regarding the function of BMW traffic camera it cannot be purchased outright and is only available through a US$25 annual subscription. It warns drivers about fixed and mobile speed cameras.

Car and Driver first became aware of the new BMW subscription offers while testing a 2023 X1.

It’s unclear whether BMW intends to increase the number of feature subscriptions it offers in the United States, but it does have a broader range of subscriptions in other markets.

For example, in Australia, available through subscriptions: heated front seats, heated steering wheel, professional parking assistant, real-time traffic information, Adaptive M suspension, BMW driver recorder, remote engine start, Apple Car Play and USB map update.
