Ford Mustang 2024 Shooting Brake Rendering Envisions Long Roof Pony

This month is very special for Ford. One of the automaker’s iconic nameplates is receiving a new generation and the new Mustang continues to make headlines with more news coming almost every day. It’s a bit quiet this morning and we decided it’s the right time to share something not official with you. But still associated with the most popular sports car in the world.

If you’re wondering what car you see pictured above, don’t rush to jump to conclusions just yet. This is an unofficial rendering showing what a pony car’s firebrake version looks like. And it’s fair to say this is a traditional firebrake with only two doors and not a station wagon. Image is from X-Tomi Design.

At first glance, the idea of a long-roof Mustang may not sound right, but we have to admit that we really like what we see. The new Mustang’s muscular rear fender blends nicely with the roofline that slopes into a large C-pillar, which marks the end of the vehicle when viewed from the side. No rear view is available, although we guess the rear fascia remains unchanged but gets a small rear window under the spoiler.

Earlier this month, Ford released several Mustang sketches illustrating alternative designs. Among them, there are virtual images such as a four-door sedan that show a more practical version of the sports car being considered at some point. We don’t know what’s going on with the project, but we can imagine the Mustang-branded vehicle family, which could include the Mustang pony, the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover, the Mustang sedan, and the Mustang fire brake.

Unfortunately, only the first two models exist for now. We doubt that Ford will soon expand the Mustang lineup with more practical derivatives, but if it does decide to do so, there are already some pretty neat ideas.
