Buick It plans to go all-electric towards the end of the decade, and with that goal in mind, the brand is also getting a facelift, along with a redesigned emblem that signifies a new era.
The first glimpse of future Buick designs was shown at the Wildcat EV Concept revealed earlier this year. And while the low-slung coupe looks classy, GM design bring one new version of the Buick showing how it could look with an SUV style.
GM Design brings new version of Buick
The design was shared by General Motors Design, the automaker’s official Instagram account. According to GM Design’s social media post, the design was a sketch by Namwoo Kim, showing a “new take” on Buick. Kim has served as a creative designer at GM since 2014.
As mentioned, the sketch is reminiscent of the Wildcat EV Concept. You can tell the resemblance in the upper lighting element and lower grille, though Kim’s idea for the spotlights principals differs greatly from the EV concept. There is also considerable ground clearance, complemented by huge wheels. These tell us that the design is destined to become an SUV, an SUV coupe, because the sloping roofline is evident in the drawing.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Buick sketches posted on GM Design’s Instagram. Previously, a sedan-like version of the Wildcat appeared, as it definitely looked true to the EV coupe concept.
It’s hard to say if it will become a production vehicle or just a concept, but yes, this is a design study that we will continue to see as the manufacturer redefines itself over the years. It’s definitely a fresh take on Buick designs as the automaker steps into an electrified future.
