While Forza Motorsport fans await the next title in the franchise to be released in the second quarter of the year, Gran Turismo players will get new cars monthly. With the free upgrade December of this year Gran Turismo 7 is expanding its virtual garage to house five models, including the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm. Introduced in March 2020, it is the extreme version of the Italian sports sedan, with more power and two seats as part of a comprehensive weight loss program.
Gran Turismo 7 Update
Similarly, GT developer Polyphony Digital is now offering the opportunity to drive the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo submitted at the end of last month. Like all other VGTs before it, the car has been developed exclusively for the racing game. It uses an unrestricted version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that delivers more than 1,000 horsepower. Until March 2023, you can see a full-scale model in the Maranello museum.
In addition, the Bugatti Chiron and the Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray have been added with the December update. The fifth and final car is a 1995 Toyota Celica GT-Four (ST205). It was the most powerful iteration of the Celica to date thanks to an upgraded 3S-GTE engine. The rally car presented with the latest GT7 update triumphed in the ’96 European Rally Championship.
It is also worth mentioning that the rally car lived a short and controversial life since Toyota Team Europe (TTE) received a one-year ban from the FIA after using an illegal restriction plate. It allowed air into the turbo inlet by bypassing the seals around the restrictor. The Celica ST205 is said to have gained an additional 50 Hp. When the discovery occurred in the Catalunya Rally, the pilots of Toyota they lost the points they had scored in said 1995 season. That included Juha Kankkunen, who was leading the drivers’ standings at the time.
Although the TTE was banned that year following the discovery made at round seven of the season, privateer teams still raced the Celica ST205 in subsequent years.
