The Porsche Macan EV is the German performance brand’s next step into electrification. It goes on sale next year and will debut before the end of 2022. In this spy shot, the engineering team licks a camouflaged vehicle around the Nürburgring.
This EV Tiger has a little camouflage on the body. In front, there is tape on the bottom of the splitter. There is also a fake grille above the license plate. The stickers around the headlights try to hide the shape of the headlights, but the actual design is easy to see. The company covers the Porsche badge on the nose.
There is a blade in the lower fascia that can be opened, depending on how much cooling air the drivetrain needs.
Along the sides, team tape covers the underside of each door. There is also a panel to hide the C-pillar shape. The actual design appears to be tilted downwards. It rides on wheels with five, thick spokes and a black finish.
The Macan EV has a panel that covers the entire rear between the hatchback window and the bumper. This includes hiding the taillights. Porsche continues to customize development vehicles with fake exhaust tips. It’s not yet clear if this is a styling element for the production version.
We’ve seen the Macan EV test with two front fascia designs. One of them has an opening that extends all the way to the splitter. Other forms, like this one, have smaller inlets.
While not visible in these photos, the previous shot gave us a glimpse into the cabin of the Macan EV. There’s a digital instrument cluster, and it features three circular gauges, at least in the photos we have. The wide aspect ratio infotainment screen sits atop the center stack. The HVAC controls appear to be at the bottom of the console.
The Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform underpins the Macan EV. This technology supports fast charging up to 350 kilowatts. Powertrain options will likely include a single motor driving the rear wheels or a dual motor layout providing all-wheel drive.
