However, some California drivers ignore the Road signsand in this case, despite very clear signage, at least three different people ignored this warning and their cars were totaled. The California Highway Patrol shared a social media post stating that "Road Closed" signs are not recommendations. The road in question was Kasson Road between Durham Ferry Road and the entrance to the San Joaquin River Club in Tracy, California. In the photo shared in the publication, you can see what looks like a honda crv half sunk under a substantial amount of water. For those who may not have seen the post, the CHP added barriers and signs to the road. But that didn't stop a Volkswagen Passat driver from ending up in the hole on January 26. If only there were signs and/or barriers that could have prevented this…”. Of course, in addition to showing the vandalized VW, they also showed the signage again. Still, this kept happening. No amount of four-wheel drive will be able to get them out of this one. In fact, it appears that the hood came off the truck upon contact with the other side of the hole. Not only did they issue a citation to the driver, but they also took to Facebook again to condemn this situation. "It has happened again. We can't make these things up. This was 100 percent preventable. There are no excuses. Signals are clear, visible and unobstructed", they specified. The lesson is simple: when the sign says road closed, there's a good reason for that, don't try to go through it.
