The huge technology company owned by Elon Musk, Teslajust made a recall to a total of 350 thousand 976 cars in USA. This, as reported by the NHTSA (for its acronym in English) or the National Agency for Highway Traffic Safety of the United States due to lighting problems and with the airbag that could affect the safety of the occupants.
Tesla recalls thousands of cars in the United States
As regards the problem with lighting, which affects 32 thousand 628 units of the Tesla Model 3 of the 2023 model year and of the ModelY manufactured after 2020, the agency reported that, “in rare instances,” the taillights on one or both sides of the vehicle “may illuminate intermittently due to a ‘firmware’ anomaly.” For its part, the brake lights, reverse gear and turn signals are not affected.
In this sense, the NHTSA warns that an intermittent taillight may reduce visibility in dark conditions, which could “increase the risk of a collision.”
To solve this problem, the company will implement a ‘firmware’ update of the models that would be affected ‘over the air’ (OTA), a procedure that will incur no cost to customers.
Airbag problems
Regarding the problem with the airbag that affects 29,348 units of the Tesla ModelX manufactured from 2021; relates to the Restraint Control Module (RCM), which affects system calibration and could cause the frontal airbag to “deploy in an unintended pattern” in low-speed collisions, increasing carry the risk of injury, according to the NHTSA.
In order to solve it, Tesla it will also use a free ‘over the air’ update of the ‘firmware’ that will be in charge of adjusting the calibration of the system.
