Nissan has finally released a redesigned Z, but GT-R fans haven’t been so lucky, as the aging model seemingly refuses to be reborn. While there have been countless rumors over the years, Nissan unveiled the 2024 GT-R in Japan and it’s a new déjà vu.

Although, of course, that does not mean that there is nothing new, since the GT-R 2024 presents a series of relatively small changes.

Notably, the designers have installed new front and rear fascias, a revised grille, and streamlined wings. The company says this further improves the vehicle’s “impressive aerodynamic performance” as downforce increases, while the drag coefficient remains unchanged at 0.26.

More specifically, Nissan says that engineers analyzed the mesh used in the grille and decided to go with a thinner design to improve cooling and reduce drag. The GT-R Nismo, on the other hand, sports a new rear wing with gooseneck-style mounts, as well as a nearly 10% larger surface area. Furthermore, the flagship sports car has been fitted with a new rear diffuser and canards. The model also has a new exclusive color the Stealth Gray.

New special editions and retro paint

Although the redesigned model that was expected was not obtained, the GT-R T-spec returns for 2024. It is based on the GT-R Premium and is available in traditional colors known as Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple.

In addition to the old-school paint job, the GT-R T-spec sports 20-inch forged wheels with a gold finish. They’re backed by carbon ceramic brakes that come from the GT-R Nismo.

In Japan, the T-Spec will be joined by a special edition GT-R Nismo. Americans would have a version of it, as Nissan will offer the GT-R Nismo with an optional Nismo Appearance Package.
