During 2022 Toyota was forced to apologize for make multiple adjustments in production due to the shortage of microchips and the spread of COVID-19. This 2023 the trend continues forcing the manufacturer to notify its customers that they will have to wait for their new cars.
The Japanese brand’s projects for 2023 will also be disrupted by supply bottlenecks and the coronavirus pandemic.
Toyota announced today that if everything continues according to the initial plan, they will manufacture a total of 10.6 million units. However, this is a maximum number and the company remains realistic for the next 12 months. Suppliers and involved parties have been notified on a baseline with respect to a volume of the 10% less than ideal by 2023.
In January, Toyota plans to manufacture 700,000 units, with 200,000 assembled in Japan and the rest in its plants abroad. Production of the Land Cruiser Prado, 4Runner and Lexus GX will be discontinued locally. The volume of production mentioned takes into account a minimal fluctuation, but the production will be hampered to some extent by external causes.

Toyota has expressed its preference for hydrogen-fuelled combustion vehicles over electric cars, Akio Toyoda, chief executive said that going green must go beyond new cars, and he thinks that existing ICEs could have a new opportunity by becoming neutral propulsion.
To highlight the idea, the iconic AE86 received official hydrogen and electric conversions for the Tokyo Motor Show 2023.
