USA: Speeding locomotive crashes into 134-foot beam in Tennessee

Crashes involving trains happen frequently, but what is not common is that the collision causes the train to derail. That is exactly what happened to a locomotive when it ran into a concrete beam. Fortunately, no one lost their lives.

The place of the events was Collegedale, Tennessee Last Tuesday. The driver of a flatbed trailer was waiting at a red light with his load, a 134 foot beam leaning on the train tracks. At that moment, the arms were activated but the truck could not be moved out of the way in time.

Moments later the Norfolk Southern Railway train appeared to crash into the platform and concrete beam, completely destroying them.

According to The Chattanoogan, three locomotives and 10 rail cars derailed. The scene was as chaotic as could be expected.
