A new event has unleashed public anger and led to protests in the US, and that is that Memphis police officers lowered a man from a car, Tyre Nicholsand they gave him a deadly beatingaccording to some videos released by the Memphis department.
Tyrne Nichols, 29, was allegedly stopped during a traffic stop on January 7 and died three days later at a hospital after being brutally beaten by some Memphis police officers. Currently, the officers have been fired and charged with second-degree murder, in addition to other charges. More details are awaited in this regard.
Police officers beat Tire Nichols to death
On Friday, the Memphis department posted some videos. Videos showed Nichols being beaten with a baton, apparently kicked in the face, and doused with an irritant. Also, they caught him crying for his mother and saying that he was trying to go home.
They also appeared to show Nichols’ aggressive, chaotic, and at times inconsistent demands by police, such as requiring him to provide his hands as they grabbed his arm and pulled him to his feet.
It took 26 minutes for health authorities to appear at the spot where Tire Nichols was slumped to the ground after a Memphis police officer was first seen appearing to kick him in the face.
Rodney Wells, Nichols’ stepfather told MSNBC Friday night: “These were monsters that did this to my son.”
“My son was 150 pounds. Each of these officers had over 200,” Wells continued. He delimited in the same way: «That is 1,000 pounds hitting my sonusing it like a piñata, all this unnecessary force that wasn’t really necessary for a kid who wasn’t resisting or just trying to get home to his parents.”
Sensitive videos show the heinous attack
In one of the videos, the initial traffic stop is shown with a chaotic scene as officers pull Nichols out of the car, yelling orders to each other and at times threatening him. Nichols is on the ground when he is sprayed in the face with what appears to be pepper spray or another irritant, and runs, the videos appear to show.

Additionally, video from a pole camera from above shows the scene where officers struck Nichols at another location. When the camera view pans, the video shows Nichols on the ground being kicked and punched.
The city’s top police officer, Cerelyn “CJ” Davis, had previously described the conduct captured in the sensitive footage as “appalling, reckless and inhumane”. President Joe Biden also expressed Friday night that he was outraged and called what the videos show horrific.

three days hospitalized
nichols was hospitalized in critical condition after the fateful encounter and lost his life three days later. Details about what transpired between Nichols and the officers have been scant. Initially, police said Nichols ran during the stop for reckless driving and that a “confrontation” occurred in an effort to stop him.
However, Davis told MSNBC on Friday that an investigation and review of available camera footage could not “prove” the reckless driving claim.

Because of this, five Memphis police officers were fired and charged with second degree murder and other charges. Thus, Demetrius Haley, Desmond Mills, Jr., Emmitt Martin III, Justin Smith and Tadarrius Bean face between 15 and 60 years in prison. Davis said other officers remain under investigation in connection with the alleged traffic stop policy violations.
Similarly, on Friday night, following the release of the videos, two Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies who appeared on the scene were relieved of their duties pending the outcome of an investigation. More news regarding the case is expected.
