Mexican motorsports is in mourning before the surprising and unfortunate news of the departure of Federico Gutierrez, a young Mexican pilot only 17 years old, who died this Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident that took place on the highway between Valle de Bravo and Toluca, in the State of Mexico. Who was Federico Gutierrez?
The young driver was born in the State of Mexico, despite living in the Mexican capital. Despite his young age, the 17-year-old pilot had a extensive experience in the world of motorsportsand currently competed in the Telmex Telcel team.
The young runner’s career began in 2010, 13 years ago. At that time, he participated in various kart championships both in Mexico and in Spain, during the years 2010 and 2018. Later in the year 2019, the Notiauto Cup, where with only 13 years he obtained the first position in two races. That same year he became the youngest driver to run the 24 hours of Mexico as a teammate with his brother Max Gutiérrez, also a pilot.

Federico Gutiérrez, young Nascar driver, dies
According to various sources, the pilot was traveling in his car, a yellow Porsche, when he collided with a white Ford Explorer truck. The impact was deadly at the site of the tragic accident.
In addition, the authorities indicated that in the incident that occurred in the area known as Villa Seca, in the municipality of Villa Victoria, four more people were involved in the accident. Of these, according to various media, three were transferred to nearby hospitals. Among the people affected by the fatality was the young man’s brother, also a 20-year-old pilot Max Gutiérrez who runs for the Telmex team. The Nascar racer was airlifted to a private hospital.

Unfortunately, accidents in Mexico are extremely common. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), during 2021 there were 340,415 traffic accidents in urban areas in Mexico.
