He Mercedes-AMG GT 2024 is entering the final stretch and new spy photos keep coming. On this occasion, spy photographers came across a prototype parked outside a hotel.
This seemingly chance encounter was a blessing in disguise, as the model is lightly camouflaged and reveals some new details. One of the most notable is the presence of rear seatswhich had long been rumored for the redesigned coupe.

Of course, this is not too surprising because the GT was developed together with the 2+2 Mercedes SL. However, just like the convertible, the rear seats are small and you may never want to sit in them.
The similarities to the SL extend beyond the cabin, as both models feature similar exterior styling. Although the GT eschews a soft top and sports unique fascias, as well as different lighting units.
This particular prototype features a rear cargo port and a four-pipe exhaust system with square tips, indicating that it is the GT 63SE Performance high end. So it should feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, a rear-mounted electric motor, and a 6.1 kWh battery. This would give the car a combined 831 hp (620 kW / 843 PS) and more than 1,032 lb-ft (1,400 Nm) of torque.
That won’t be the only plug-in hybrid variant, as spy photographers have already snapped photos of the GT 53 E Performance. It is expected to pair a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a similar PHEV system for a combined output of around 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS).

Those put off by electrification can look forward to more traditional 55 and 63 variants with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. The former makes 469 hp (350 kW / 476 PS) in the SL, while the latter does its own thing with 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS).
