Ram’s long-awaited rival to the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1-T is still at least a year away from showrooms, but judging by the Ram Revolution 1500 BEV Concept recently introduced might be worth the wait.
The tougher Stellantis brand pulled the covers off its EV truck at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, and it’s not just the platform’s electric powertrain that makes that spot fitting. Because Revolution is packed with device features including steering wheel-mounted displays, a removable dash display, and autonomous capabilities that allow the truck to roll behind you as you walk around your job site.
Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept
Ram hasn’t commented on all the details in the published powertrain specification, saying only that the Revolution rides on the new Stellantis STLA Frame platform, features four-wheel drive courtesy of a twin-engine setup, multi-height air suspension and steering. Four-wheel drive with 15 degrees of rear wheel articulation.
It also indicates that its 800-volt architecture can charge up to 350 kW, allowing the Revolution to add 100 miles (161 km) of range in just 10 minutes, while an available inductive robot charger designed for home use will move to position automatically to recharge the battery. It is also known from previous Stellantis presentations that trucks built on the STLA Frame platform should have a driving range of up to 500 miles (800 km).
But, in terms of power figures, we don’t have anything yet. To do this, you will have to wait a little longer to find out exactly how many horses are under the monstrous pick up van of RAM, but at least now we have an idea of what it will be like.
The previous advances of the Revolution they had given clues as to the reason for the LED lights shaped like the fingerboard, the illuminated badging and the strong fender creases, but full exterior pictures reveal a sportier shaped and less blocky truck than those offered by its rivals.
The narrow waist, rising window line and angled C-pillar combine with flared front and rear arches to make the Revolution an athletic-looking truck.
Certainly the RAM has some modern touches, like flush door handles and wheel center caps whose Ram name remains level throughout. But more importantly, the American brand says that the compact electric motors allowed its designers to move the cabin forward and increase it by 4 inches (102 mm) compared to current ICE trucks, while maintaining the same bed length.

Spacious and cargo-carrying interior
That extra space, plus the suicide rear doors and no B-pillar, will help make the Ram’s interior feel roomier when you climb in and out, and if you need more people on board, there are two fold-flat seats installed in the power center seat. . But don’t worry, if you don’t need them, just release the middle gate and you can pass items from the rear to the trunk, being able to transport thin items up to 18 feet (5.5 m) with the tailgate closed.
A “Ram Track” rail system throughout the Revolution provides flexible loading and docking points, and the console can convert to a workstation. The lower of the two 14.2-inch infotainment screens can be detached and used as a tablet.
That screen, which lets you control functions around your home, can also be combined with its sister screen to create a large viewing area, and if that’s still not big enough, the Revolution’s outdoor projectors can be used to set up a drive-in theater. improvised in the style of the 50s.
Lots of technology, connectivity and level 3 autonomy
But there’s nothing retro about the Ram augmented reality head-up display or the voice-activated virtual assistant that will obey your spoken commands to open and close windows or even jog behind you in Shadow Mode. This feature is included with the Ram Level 3 Standalone Package and uses information from sensors and cameras to enable the van, which weighs about 2,950 kg (6,500 lbs) and is 2 m (6.5 ft) wide, to follow a walking driver at a safe distance.
Although the Revolution, as seen at CES, is just a concept, it’s a sneaky version of the 2025 production truck and there’s a good chance much of the tech seen here will be on the final option list. This will be known for sure when Ram reveals the full-production Revolution in 2024 with a starting price that may match the $55,975 starting point for its rival Ford F-150 Lightning.
