The young woman would have shared a series of videos with her sisters in North Carolina; the last of hers, just after midnight, showed her rolling down an ice-covered window to reveal a nearby van that was also stuck with its hazard lights on.

“I was telling my sister that she was scared,” one of Taylor’s sisters, Shawnequa Brown, told WSOC-TV.

His family told the media that it is believed he was stuck in her car for about 18 hours before they found her on Christmas Eve.

“He called 911 and was waiting for them,” his mother, Wanda Brown Steele, told the television station.

But “everyone who tried to get to her got stuck,” added Tomeshia Brown, another of her sisters.

“Fire department, police, everyone got stuck“, said. Similarly, he asked why the “snowy state” did not have emergency vehicles that could operate during the winter storm.

During the storm, Tomeshia Brown posted a message saying they had “everyone [of] Buffalo” looking for Taylor, who moved from Charlotte to Buffalo the year before to help care for her ailing father.

Her mother added that Taylor told her sisters in a group chat that she planned to get some sleep and then try to walk to safety if help hadn’t arrived when she woke up.

The mother alerted relatives in Buffalo, where Taylor was born, to “get back out there,” she told WSOC-TV. “That’s when they opened the window and saw that she was there,” said the grieving mother.

Taylor’s mother believes her daughter may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. “The car was running and the snow was still falling, so it blocked the pipes, the exhaust pipe,” he said. And he added: “Then after the car shut off, that’s when it froze up.”

The family is trying to bring her body back to Charlotte, where they moved when she was 2 years old. So far, one fundraising online has accumulated almost $10,000 of the goal of $12,000.

“We are trying to bring her here, because I want her here with me,” her mother said.

Sylvia Taylor, Taylor’s grandmother, told WSOC-TV: “It’s so easy to ask, ‘Why, God? Why?’ But we’re not always supposed to know the answer to that.”

In a series of online tributes, Shawnequa Brown called her sister “the golden girl… The funniest, most realistic, hooded little sister ever!”
